Hearts & Paws Visits the Breakwater Program

The Breakwater Program had the wonderful opportunity to work with Hearts & Paws, a local nonprofit dedicated to bringing comfort and joy to the Cape Cod community through specially trained comfort dogs.

Hearts & Paws Comfort Dog Teams visit schools, libraries, elder care facilities, veterans’ groups, and other community settings where people can benefit from the companionship and unconditional love of dogs.

Our Breakwater students enjoyed spending time with the Hearts & Paws team and experiencing firsthand the positive impact that comfort dogs can have. We are grateful to Hearts & Paws for sharing their time, their dogs, and their mission with our students!

Students are using the scientific method to explore mixtures and solutions, investigate whether substances can be separated, and use a blood model to answer the question: Is blood a mixture or a solution? Students are learning through hands-on exploration, observation, and scientific inquiry!

Important Reminder: Student Verification Form

Parents and guardians, please remember to log into PowerSchool and complete the Student Verification Form to update and confirm your student’s information. The link to complete this form was sent through ParentSquare on August 27, 2026.

This is an important step because the completed verification form includes permissions that are needed for your student to participate in and receive certain services at school. Without the required permissions, staff may be unable to provide or treat your student for certain services.

Please take a moment to log into PowerSchool and complete the Student Verification Form if you have not already done so.

Please note: This is a required annual process and must be completed each school year.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this important step and help us ensure we have the most current information and permissions for your student.

Wayfinder Corner

Wayfinder Focus of the Week: Kindness, Belonging, and Being Yourself

This week in Wayfinder, students are exploring how kindness and authenticity help create a strong sense of belonging in our school community. Students are reflecting on how their words and actions impact others, identifying ways to show kindness, and discussing the importance of being true to themselves while accepting and celebrating the differences in others. Through these lessons, students are building empathy, strengthening relationships, and learning how each of us can help create a classroom where everyone feels safe, respected, and included.
