On Tuesday, September 15, students and staff from Dennis-Yarmouth Intermediate Middle School (DYIMS) and Station Avenue Elementary School (SAE) lined Station Avenue to welcome The Wall That Heals as it made its way to Yarmouth.
The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The exhibit honors the more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The organization that brought The Wall That Heals to Yarmouth worked closely with our school district and welcomed the many ways our schools could support this meaningful community event. On Wednesday, September 16, students from Dennis-Yarmouth High School helped build and set up the display at Parkers River Landing.
The Wall That Heals was open 24 hours a day, rain or shine, from Thursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20. The exhibit also included a mobile Education Center, providing a reflective space for visitors of all ages to learn more about the Vietnam War and those who served.
This was Massachusetts’ only stop on The Wall That Heals’ 2026 tour and provided an important opportunity for our students and school community to come together to honor and remember the men and women who served our country.
We are proud of the many ways our DYIMS students and staff contributed to welcoming The Wall That Heals to our community.
