A Note from the Administrative Team |
As another school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to celebrate all that our students, staff, and families have accomplished together. From academic achievements and creative projects to performances, field trips, athletics, and special events, it has been a year filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership throughout the year. Your involvement helps make DYMS a wonderful place for students to learn, connect, and succeed.
To our 7th graders, we wish you the very best as you begin the next chapter of your educational journey. Good luck in high school! We are proud of all you have accomplished and know you will continue to do great things.
To our current 6th graders, we look forward to welcoming you back in September as our newest 7th grade class. We can't wait to see all that you will achieve in the year ahead.
We wish all of our Dolphin families a summer filled with sunshine, laughter, adventure, relaxation, and time spent with loved ones. Read a good book, explore something new, make lasting memories, and enjoy a well-deserved break.
Have a safe, happy, and fun-filled summer! We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another great year at DYMS.
~ Sincerely
Mr. Bovino

It has been a privilege to serve as your Assistant Principal this year at DY Middle School. This year brought both challenges and accomplishments, and I have enjoyed watching you grow not only academically, but also in confidence, character, and independence.
Throughout the year, you stepped up in many ways. You learned from challenges, celebrated successes, and continued to build strong relationships with your peers and staff. It has been a joy to see you develop into the students you are today as you prepare for the next step in your journey.
As you head to high school, I encourage you to carry forward what you have learned here and continue to push yourselves to grow and get involved in new opportunities.
I am also looking forward to continuing my work at DY Middle School next year as the 6th grade Assistant Principal and welcoming our incoming 6th grade class.
Thank you for a wonderful year. Wishing you a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer.
Sincerely,
Mr. Hanscom
Assistant Principal

It has been an absolute honor to serve as the 6th grade Assistant Principal this year for such a remarkable group of students. Watching our students grow—not only academically, but also in confidence, character, and independence—has been one of the greatest joys for our staff. Throughout the year, we had the privilege of seeing them discover their strengths, build meaningful friendships, and truly find themselves.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey with them, and I look forward to serving as their Assistant Principal again next year as they begin 7th grade.
To all DYM students and families, thank you for a wonderful year. Wishing you a safe, healthy, and joyful summer. Enjoy every moment, and we'll see you in September!
Sincerely,

On June 24th, students enjoyed an exciting day of friendly competition, teamwork, and school spirit during our annual Field Day! Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of events that challenged their athletic abilities, encouraged collaboration, and created lasting memories.
Events included the Sack Race, Three-Legged Race, Discus, Softball Throw, Hamster Wheel, Chained-Together Obstacle Course, Long Jump, Water Balloon Toss, Relay Race, Tug-of-War, and the 50-Yard Dash. Students gave their best effort in every event while cheering on their classmates and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship.

Congratulations to all of our participants and award recipients for their enthusiasm, determination, and positive attitudes throughout both days of celebration.
A special thank you to all of the staff members who helped make the day a success. We would especially like to recognize Mr. Freeman and Mrs. Cook for their countless hours of planning, organization, and hard work in coordinating this year's Field Day. Their dedication and efforts created a fun, memorable, and rewarding experience for all of our students.
Field Day was a wonderful way to wrap up the school year, bringing students and staff together to celebrate teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's event such a memorable success!

We say farewell to three valued members of our school community who are retiring this year: Officer Brewer, Mrs. Purcell, and Mrs. Street.
Officer Brewer has served as our School Resource Officer, supporting students and staff while helping to maintain a safe and positive school environment. He has been a steady and familiar presence in the building, taking time to build relationships with students and offering support whenever needed. He also brought his K9 partner and comfort dog, Finley, into the school community, which brought joy, reassurance, and positive interactions for students and staff alike. His calm approach and willingness to engage with students made him an important part of the school community.
Mrs. Purcell has been a dedicated 7th grade ELA teacher, known for her commitment to student growth and learning. She has worked tirelessly to help students strengthen their reading and writing skills, always holding high expectations while providing the support needed to help students meet them. Her classroom has been a place where students were encouraged to think critically, express themselves, and grow in confidence as readers and writers.
Mrs. Street has served as a 6th grade special education teacher, supporting students with care, dedication, and consistency. She brings so much patience to her work with both students and staff, and is known for truly advocating for student needs while always keeping their best interests at the center of every decision. Her steady presence, compassion, and commitment to doing what is right for students have made a lasting impact across the school community.
Their many years of service in education and to our school district have made a lasting impact and do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for their dedication and wish them all the best in their well-earned retirement.

As we wrap up the school year, we would like to take a moment to recognize and thank several staff members who will be moving on to new opportunities and career paths.
We say goodbye to Ms. Potts (EL Assistant), Ms. Earls (6th Grade Science), and Ms. Poor (Administrative Assistant to the Principal). Each of them has contributed to our school community in meaningful ways through their dedication, support, and daily commitment to students and staff.
They have each added many important pieces to our school in their own unique ways, whether through supporting students, collaborating with colleagues, or helping keep our daily operations running smoothly. Their presence and contributions have helped strengthen our school community.
While we are sad to see them go, we are excited for them as they begin new chapters in their professional journeys. We are grateful for the time, energy, and care they have given to our school, and we wish them all the best in the future.

DYM is working to bring a school-based counseling program to our school in partnership with Child & Family Services (CFS). Once we have enough interested students and required paperwork is completed, we will be able to offer this support during the school day. CFS provides counseling services for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health concerns. Services are delivered by licensed therapists, billed through medical insurance, and include collaboration with school staff. If you are interested in this opportunity for your child, please review the information attached about the CFS Outreach Counseling Program and complete the steps for your child to be involved.
