The 6th grade social studies team is getting ready for an exciting Model United Nations simulation!
Students have been assigned countries and are working in “delegations” to research their nation and create posters highlighting culture, government, geography, and location.
On June 16, they will step into a mock General Assembly meeting where they will represent their countries and respond to real and imaginative global challenges. Delegates will debate important issues, collaborate with other nations, and negotiate creative solutions to international problems.
It’s a hands-on experience that brings global citizenship, teamwork, and diplomacy to life.

Our 6th grade students had an amazing time at Camp Burgess this week! From team-building activities and games to climbing the rock wall, visiting the farm, building forts, and exploring nature, students spent the day learning, collaborating, and making lasting memories together. It was a great experience filled with adventure, teamwork, and fun! 💚

Last week, 7th grade students explored Bass River with Friends of Bass River as part of a hands-on learning experience that built directly on concepts studied in both 6th and 7th grade science and social studies.
Students connected classroom topics such as ecosystems, the water cycle, coastal erosion, and native Wampanoag traditions to what they observed in the natural environment. Learning in the field gave students the chance to see these ideas in action, deepening understanding through real-world observation and experience in nature.
This meaningful outdoor learning experience helped strengthen students’ curiosity and understanding of the local environment while reinforcing the importance of protecting natural resources in their own community.

We are excited to welcome local Cape Cod author Lynda Mullaly Hunt to DYM next Wednesday! Students will attend a whole-school presentation, and selected students will participate in a special VIP Q&A session in the library.
Leading up to the visit, the library has been offering weekly Friday trivia challenges connected to Fish in a Tree, One for the Murphys, and Shouting at the Rain, helping build excitement and engagement throughout the school community. We can’t wait for this special opportunity for our students!

Our 6th and 7th grade tennis team has been working hard this season, practicing at Sandy Pond in preparation for their upcoming meets. Each session has focused on building skills, improving technique, and strengthening teamwork on and off the court.
It’s been great to see their effort, growth, and sportsmanship as they continue to develop as athletes and teammates. 💙

During WINN, students with Ms. Shaw became scientists as they experimented with making their own ice cream! They were excited to discover that their mixture didn’t just turn into a tasty vanilla treat—it also demonstrated an endothermic reaction in action.
A fun (and delicious) way to connect science concepts to hands-on learning! 🧪✨

DYM is working to bring a school-based counseling program to our school in partnership with Child & Family Services (CFS). Once we have enough interested students and required paperwork is completed, we will be able to offer this support during the school day. CFS provides counseling services for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health concerns. Services are delivered by licensed therapists, billed through medical insurance, and include collaboration with school staff. If you are interested in this opportunity for your child, please review the information attached about the CFS Outreach Counseling Program and complete the steps for your child to be involved.
