To the teachers, support staff, counselors, custodians, cafeteria workers, office staff, paraprofessionals, and every adult who helps make DY a caring and supportive community, thank you. Your patience, kindness, guidance, and dedication never go unnoticed, and our students appreciate you more than you know.

Poems on Silence

In Ms. Pascarelli’s 7th grade ELA class, students explored the theme of silence by writing original poems reflecting on its meaning and impact.

Void,
Endless and tranquil,
The wish of someone to fulfill it,
Or the appreciation of the empty
--Sadie Parker

As the youth bows his head
he feels like he is in a desert.
breath by breath,
silence just keeps getting more silent
he feels like he is in an underworld
--Joseph Woodward

Silence is a place with peace
a silent room with a window opened
a window wide opened
curtains swinging left and right
feeling the cool breeze of a summer night
--Thessalya Oliveira

Silence is what you hear
when your thoughts go quiet,
silence is the sound of an empty field,
silence is space where only stars shine
--Sophia Snell

A Night Under the Stars ✨🔭

6th and 7th grade students recently attended a Star Party at the Werner Schmidt Observatory at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. Students learned about stars, planets, and the Artemis program mission to the moon while exploring the night sky through multiple telescopes. They observed star nebulas, Venus, and Jupiter along with its moons, making for an unforgettable evening of hands-on learning and discovery!

Supporting Student Well-Being at DY Middle School

DYM is working to bring a school-based counseling program to our school in partnership with Child & Family Services (CFS). Once we have enough interested students and required paperwork is completed, we will be able to offer this support during the school day. CFS provides counseling services for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health concerns. Services are delivered by licensed therapists, billed through medical insurance, and include collaboration with school staff. If you are interested in this opportunity for your child, please review the information attached about the CFS Outreach Counseling Program and complete the steps for your child to be involved.
