Students are exploring library books during Independent Learning time, discovering new stories and enjoying quiet reading. This time supports curiosity, comprehension, and a love of reading while allowing students to engage with texts at their own pace.

In French class, students build their language skills through an interactive game called Fan N Pick. One student fans out the cards while a partner chooses one to be read aloud in French. The listening student matches the sentence to a picture on a recording sheet and writes what they hear. This engaging activity strengthens speaking, listening, and writing skills while keeping students actively involved in learning.

With SPIKE Prime, students are turning ideas into moving, thinking creations. By building and coding their own designs, they practice collaboration, creativity, and perseverance while exploring real-world STEM concepts.

Students from Mr. Pereraâs class at DYMS, along with students from DYIS in Mrs. Cartensenâs, Mrs. Baronâs, and Mrs. Sheehanâs classes, recently celebrated the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in MilanâCortina, Italy with a collaborative Olympic-themed event.
The morning began with a short classroom learning activity, followed by time outside for a cardboard snowshoe relay race using snowshoes students had made together in class the day before, along with a spirited game of tug of war. Students then returned indoors for a brief awards ceremony and wrapped up the celebration with hot chocolate.
An alternative Olympic torch-making activity was available for students who opted out of outdoor events. The experience brought students across schools and classrooms together for an engaging and memorable celebration of the Winter Olympics.
