Student-Led Conferences Coming This Year!!!

We’re excited to share that this year, our conferences will follow a Student-Led Conference model.

Unlike traditional parent-teacher meetings, in a Student-Led Conference your child takes the lead. Students will share their progress, showcase work, reflect on their learning, and set goals for the future. Teachers will be present to support, but the conversation is centered on the student’s voice and accountability.

It is our expectation that every family sign up for an individual conference time that both the student and parent/guardian can attend together.

Conference sign-up details will be shared soon—we look forward to seeing you and your student there!

Cell Phone Policy

Upon entering their advisory, students will turn off their cell phones and turn into their advisor. Cell phones will be kept secure in the advisory classroom until dismissal. Headphones and earbuds should only be used within the classroom upon the teacher's instruction. Students found to have a cell phone/earbuds during the school day will have their devices confiscated and turned into administration, with the following progressive discipline:

First offense: Lunch Detention. Students may collect their device from the main office at the end of the day (2:40).

Second offense: After school detention. Caretaker will be required to pick the device up.

Third offense: Meeting between student, administration, and parent.

Exemptions will be made for students requiring their cell phones for medical purposes, per 504.

Please remember that DYMS is not responsible for lost, damaged or missing property.

Photo/Media Opt-Out

The process for photo/media permissions has changed. In the past, families filled out a form. Now, if you do not want your child’s image or name shared by the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District, you must send a signed opt-out letter to your school principal by October 1 (or within 30 days of mid-year enrollment).

Student photos and videos may appear on the district website, social media, yearbooks, and occasionally with local media. Names are only shared for honors, awards, and graduation. Please note, this does not apply to public events such as performances, competitions, or athletic games.

Notes from the Nurse

It is essential that all families complete the Student Health Authorization Form so our nurse can provide care for your child during the school day. This authorization allows the nurse to treat your child for common needs such as an ice pack, Advil/Tylenol, or checking a fever.

To complete the form:
  1. Log into your child’s PowerSchool account.
  2. In the PowerSchool App, go to MoreForms#8 Health Authorization.
  3. Fill out the form and click Submit.

If you have not yet set up a PowerSchool parent account, please use this link for instructions:

Thank you for taking care of this as soon as possible!
